1. Push wire through eye of hook.
2. Wrap around the hooks shank at least 4 times.
3. Bring wire back through the eye in the opposite direction to which it came in.
4. Twist wire on itself to secure and then snip off leaving a small 3mm piece sticking up on the same side as the point and barb
5. Place a duster or skirt on the trace wire and then bend wire back on itself. At bend put a small lip on the wire as shown.
6. Tie fluorocarbon to wire trace using Albright knot. Make sure both pieces of fluorocarbon come out on same side underneath the “lip”. This prevents the wire from cutting the fluorocarbon leader as it only pulls against the bend in the lip.
7. Leave approx 30 to 45cm piece for leader and tie on No1 power swivel.
8. Place bait on hook by threading bottom of fillet on hook and the top piece on the short piece of wire standing up. Tie off bait at top using cotton. This piece of wire standing up prevents the fillet from sliding down the hook to the bend in the shank.
